Mandi, June 7:
In a unique initiative aimed at inspiring youth and encouraging academic excellence, the Mandi district administration has launched a new programme titled “DC for a Day”. As part of this initiative, Anvi Singh from Doon village in Sarkaghat subdivision was appointed Deputy Commissioner (DC) for a day on Friday. Anvi recently secured the fourth rank in the state in the Class 10 board results and topped the district.

DC Mandi, Apoorva Devgan, officially welcomed Anvi at 9 a.m. on Friday. Her father Vikram Singh and grandfather were also present for the occasion. As she assumed the DC’s chair, Anvi was entrusted with her first administrative task—overseeing an earthquake preparedness drill. She conducted a review meeting in the video conferencing room and interacted with officials regarding the exercise.

Anvi also toured various departments within the DC office, gaining insights into their functioning. She even listened to public grievances during her visit. Reflecting on the experience, Anvi called it one of the most memorable days of her life and said the opportunity allowed her to understand the inner workings of the administrative system. She thanked DC Apoorva Devgan for his guidance throughout the day.

Speaking on the initiative, DC Devgan said the district administration is committed to motivating students through programmes like Apna Vidyalaya and Apna Pustakalaya, and DC for a Day is the latest addition to that vision. “With the right guidance at the right time, schoolchildren can achieve great heights,” he said. He also praised Anvi for carrying out her duties with dedication and extended his best wishes for her bright future.
