Shimla to Host 70th All India Theatre and Dance Competition; Over 1,000 Artists to Participate

The 70th All India Theatre and Dance Competition will be held in Shimla from June 6 to 10, drawing around 1,000 artists from across 20 states. The event is being organized by the All India Artists Association (AIAA).
Addressing a press conference in Shimla, AIAA President Rohitashv Gour shared that in addition to the competition, several social awareness activities will also take place. Major theatre troupes from 13 states will perform during the festival, making it one of the largest gatherings of performing arts in the country.
Gour stated that street plays and awareness rallies on topics like ‘Swachh Himachal’ (Clean Himachal) and ‘Nasha Mukt Bharat’ (Drug-Free India) will be organized throughout the event. Following the conclusion of the competition, a special cultural showcase titled ‘Kala Kumbh Shimla’ will be held on June 11. The event will feature performances by some of India’s leading classical dancers.
Street theatre performances are also scheduled to take place along Shimla’s iconic Mall Road on the same day. In recognition of excellence in the fields of Indian art, theatre, and culture, AIAA will also felicitate distinguished individuals during the event.
