The iconic Ridge Ground in Shimla is awash with color and fragrance as vibrant blooms take center stage at the Summer Festival’s Flower Show, organized by SEJIS in collaboration with the district administration. The three-day event has become a major attraction for both tourists and locals, turning the heart of the city into a fragrant floral haven.

Participants from departments like Horticulture, Public Works, and various floriculture farmers and organizations are showcasing a stunning variety of flowers. The event also features a series of competitive exhibits, where entrants present intricately arranged decorative plants and floral designs, captivating the audience with their creativity.

Speaking about the initiative, the Chairperson of SEJIS said the Flower Show is a regular highlight of the Summer Festival, aimed at encouraging more people to take up flower cultivation—an effort that not only promotes self-reliance but also enhances the natural beauty of the environment.

The Flower Show has emerged as one of the festival’s most popular attractions, featuring hundreds of floral varieties sourced from across India and abroad. On display—and for sale—are blooms such as roses, marigolds, dahlias, orchids, tulips, and cacti, drawing enthusiastic interest from visitors.

Many attendees remarked that floriculture offers a viable path to self-employment, blending aesthetic charm with economic opportunity.
