Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today inaugurated the newly established Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) office in Nadaun, aimed at strengthening law enforcement infrastructure in the region. The SDPO office will oversee the operations of Nadaun and Sujanpur police stations, improving coordination, operational efficiency, and oversight. With this development, policing across 82 gram panchayats and one nagar panchayat is expected to become more responsive and effectively monitored.
In addition, the Chief Minister inaugurated a new Revenue Bhawan in Nadaun constructed at a cost of ₹18.5 lakh, and dedicated the newly completed Panchayat Ghar in Kalur, built at a cost of ₹1.14 crore. Addressing a public gathering in Kalur, CM Sukhu shared that he had laid the foundation stone for the Panchayat building during his tenure as an MLA, and it is now complete. He also announced that the local liquor shop in Kalur would be relocated back to its original site, following local concerns.
Speaking on fiscal challenges, CM Sukhu highlighted that the state’s decision to restore the Old Pension Scheme has led to financial restrictions imposed by the Central Government, including a direct cut of ₹1,600 crore in financial aid to Himachal Pradesh.
In a key announcement, the Chief Minister declared that the Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding School in Amlehar will commence operations from the next academic session. This will be the state’s first CBSE-affiliated Rajiv Gandhi Day-Boarding School, offering quality education along with nutritious meals, with plans to enroll up to 1,000 students in the coming years.
Further supporting farmers, he announced the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for key local crops:
-
₹90/kg for naturally grown raw turmeric

He also noted that significant improvements are being made to the state’s healthcare infrastructure, including the upcoming cancer hospital in Hamirpur.
During his visit, the Chief Minister also inspected the construction of a state-of-the-art multipurpose sports complex at Khariyari in Nadaun, being built at a cost of ₹65 crore. He directed officials to complete the project by the end of the year. The complex will include an 8-lane swimming pool, shooting range, and dedicated facilities for wrestling, boxing, kabaddi, yoga, table tennis, and badminton.
Highlighting the role of sports in promoting a healthy and disciplined lifestyle, CM Sukhu said the facility reflects the government’s commitment to nurturing talent and ensuring the physical and mental well-being of youth. He emphasized that such facilities are also part of a larger strategy to curb drug abuse by creating positive engagement avenues for young people.
