BREAKING | Tragic Road Accident in Himachal: Jeep Crashes into Bridge, 5 Dead on the Spot

Mandi, June 1:
In a horrific road accident early Saturday morning in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi district, five people lost their lives on the spot while another sustained serious injuries. The incident occurred on a newly constructed bridge in Kamand, under the Padhar sub-division, when a speeding jeep lost control and crashed into the bridge railing before overturning.
According to preliminary information, the Punjab-registered jeep (PB 02 EG 4543) was transporting tent equipment to IIT Kamand. There were six people onboard, including the driver. One person was seated in the front passenger seat, while four others were seated in the rear on top of the loaded material.
As the vehicle approached the bridge, the driver reportedly lost control. The jeep, traveling at high speed, rammed into the railing and overturned. The impact was so severe that all four passengers in the back were thrown off the bridge. Five individuals died instantly, and the driver, who was critically injured, was rushed to Zonal Hospital, Mandi for treatment.
Identities of Three Victims Confirmed
Police and emergency response teams quickly arrived at the scene to begin rescue and recovery operations. DSP Padhar Dev Raj confirmed the incident and said that an FIR has been registered, and an investigation is underway.
So far, the identities of three of the deceased have been confirmed and their families have been notified. The process of identifying the remaining two is ongoing. All victims are believed to be residents of Punjab. Post-mortems will be conducted before the bodies are handed over to their respective families.
