Solan, May 23:
In a significant crackdown under its anti-narcotics drive, the Special Cell-X of Baddi Police raided an illegally run Bengali clinic in the village of Tana (Bagbania), under the Manpura police station limits. The operation resulted in the seizure of a large quantity of banned drugs and the arrest of the clinic operator, Biswajit Mandal, son of Nirodh Mandal.

During the raid, police confiscated 859 grams of charas, 380 intoxicating capsules, 292 narcotic tablets, and 63 drug-laced injections. Preliminary investigations revealed that the clinic was operating without any valid license or government authorization. A formal case has been registered under the relevant sections of law, and the accused is set to be produced before the Nalagarh court on May 24, 2025.

Baddi SP Vinod Dhiman, addressing the media, said this action is part of the police’s “zero tolerance” policy against drug abuse. “The accused was running the clinic without any official license, and a substantial cache of narcotics has been seized from the premises. A thorough investigation is underway, including probing potential links to a larger drug network,” he said.

Police sources revealed that the clinic had become a hub for the illegal sale of drugs, contributing to the growing substance abuse problem in the area. Local residents had long suspected the clinic of shady dealings, and many have welcomed the police action as a relief.

SP Dhiman urged the public to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activities promptly. “Drug abuse is a serious social evil, and fighting it requires cooperation from every section of society,” he added.

He also announced that Special Cell-X would be further strengthened and public awareness campaigns will be intensified to educate citizens on the dangers of substance abuse.

The next hearing in the case will be held at the Nalagarh court, where police plan to seek remand for further interrogation of the accused.
