Shimla, May 21:
As the Himachal Pradesh Congress continues to function without a formal executive body for nearly six months, speculation around a change in state leadership has intensified. Amidst these ongoing discussions, State Congress President Pratibha Singh addressed the issue, stating that the decision of who should lead the party in Himachal lies solely with the high command. However, she emphasized that the responsibility should be given to a capable and influential leader.
Speaking to the media, Pratibha Singh said that the role of the party president should not be merely symbolic, but one of strength and effectiveness. “The party must follow the path shown by Virbhadra Singh, who never allowed regionalism or factionalism to dominate during his tenure,” she remarked.
She also highlighted the continued public respect for the former six-time Chief Minister, noting that his contributions are still remembered across the state. “It is important to carry forward the legacy he left behind,” she added.
Pratibha Singh expressed confidence that the Congress high command would soon announce the formation of the Pradesh Congress Committee, bringing an end to the uncertainty surrounding the party’s organizational structure in the state.
