Shimla, May 20:
Amid recent speculation surrounding the Old Pension Scheme (OPS), the Himachal Pradesh government has categorically stated that no changes will be made to the existing OPS policy. The clarification comes after reports in a few media outlets triggered concern among government employees.

Responding firmly to the rumors, the Himachal Pradesh NPS Employees’ Association stepped up its efforts for reassurance. According to a press release issued by Surendra Pundeer, the association’s Sirmaur district president, a delegation led by State President Pradeep Thakur met several Cabinet ministers in Shimla to seek clarity on the issue. The delegation included State General Secretary Bharat Sharma, Shimla District President Kushal Sharma, Bilaspur President Rajendra Vardhan, Vijay Thakur, and other members.

The group held detailed discussions with Industries Minister Harshwardhan Chauhan, Agriculture Minister Chander Kumar, Education Minister Rohit Thakur, and AYUSH Minister Yadvinder Goma. The ministers unanimously reiterated that despite fiscal challenges, the Chief Minister and the government remain committed to their promise, and the OPS will remain unchanged.

The government has urged employees not to pay heed to unfounded rumors and to continue contributing positively to the state’s development.

In addition to OPS-related concerns, the delegation also raised issues such as pending pay revisions and dearness allowance dues. The ministers assured that once the expected support from the Finance Commission is received, outstanding payments and developmental priorities would be addressed accordingly.
