Una, May 20:
A case of suspected arson has come to light in Behrar village, under the Bangana sub-division of Himachal Pradesh, where a 20-year-old mosque was set on fire by an unidentified individual. The fire resulted in extensive damage, with items worth thousands of rupees reduced to ashes. The mosque’s cleric has filed a formal complaint with the Bangana police, who have launched an investigation and registered a case against the unknown perpetrator.

In his complaint, Maulvi Nazir Mohammad stated that the mosque, built two decades ago, is regularly used for morning prayers. On Monday morning, upon arriving at the mosque, he noticed smoke coming from the adjacent store room. Upon closer inspection, he found the door latch broken and the door open. Inside, everything had been consumed by flames.

Among the items destroyed in the fire were a gas cylinder, ceiling fan, steel plates, glasses, gas stove, an iron, and various other items. Nazir Mohammad estimated the total loss at around ₹70,000.
