Bilaspur, May 19:
A major theft occurred late Sunday night at the renowned Jalpa Mata Temple in Sagirthin village, near AIIMS Bilaspur. Unknown miscreants broke into the temple and made away with valuables worth several lakhs of rupees. When the temple priest arrived Monday morning, he found the locks broken and several sacred items missing.

The thieves stole gold earrings from the deity, a large silver canopy, gold-plated eyes, a silver crown, a decorative tikka, and a gold necklace. They also took the donation box and the computer system containing CCTV footage, effectively erasing evidence of the break-in.

Upon receiving the report, police from the Sadar station reached the site and initiated an investigation. Additional Superintendent of Police Shiv Chaudhary confirmed that a thorough probe is underway.

The Jalpa Mata Temple holds deep religious significance for thousands of devotees across the district, many of whom consider the goddess their family deity. Despite being located in a residential area and frequented by hundreds of visitors daily, the theft was carried out with such precision that no one noticed anything unusual during the night.
