Shimla, May 18: A case of impersonation rocked a Junior Secretariat Assistant (JSA) examination centre at a school in Bharari, Shimla, after an individual was caught attempting to appear for the exam in place of another candidate. The vigilant exam staff identified discrepancies during routine checks, leading to the suspect’s immediate apprehension.

The incident came to light when Centre Superintendent Nitish Kumar noticed that the photo and signature on the admit card did not match the individual present. Upon further verification, the impersonator was identified as Sandeep Kumar, a 23-year-old resident of Thua village, Jind district, Haryana. He was fraudulently attempting to write the exam on behalf of a candidate named Ajay Kumar.

The discovery caused a stir at the examination centre. Preliminary investigation revealed that Sandeep Kumar had intentionally tried to gain undue advantage by impersonating another candidate. Acting swiftly on the complaint, Shimla Sadar Police registered a case under Section 319(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and took the accused into custody.

The police are currently interrogating Sandeep Kumar to determine if others are involved in orchestrating the impersonation. Authorities have also initiated a probe into the role of the original candidate, Ajay Kumar, to uncover the full extent of the fraud.

This incident raises serious concerns over exam integrity and highlights the need for stricter verification measures during recruitment examinations.
