Amit Yadav Takes Charge as Una’s New SP, Sets Clear Priorities for District Policing
IPS officer Amit Yadav
Una, May 15:
Young IPS officer Amit Yadav officially assumed charge as the new Superintendent of Police (SP) of Una district on Thursday, succeeding Rakesh Singh, who was recently transferred. Upon taking office, SP Yadav addressed local media and outlined his key priorities for the district.
Highlighting Una’s geographical location, he noted that while its proximity to Punjab brings certain advantages, it also presents unique law and order challenges. Addressing those challenges effectively, he said, would be his top priority.
SP Yadav encouraged residents to approach him directly with any grievances, even those involving the police department itself. “If anyone has a complaint against the police, they are welcome to bring it directly to me,” he stated.
Tackling illegal mining and the drug menace were listed as major focus areas. In response to recent allegations made by a state minister about the police’s alleged collusion with mafia networks, Yadav firmly stated that any officer or personnel found to be involved would face strict action.
He acknowledged the complex impact of connectivity and development in border areas, which, while beneficial to the public, also make law enforcement more challenging. “These routes not only ease movement for the public but also present multiple law and order concerns,” he explained. He emphasized that combating drug trafficking and illegal mining would remain high on his agenda and that a comprehensive action plan was already in the works.
Reiterating his commitment to public service, SP Yadav assured that under his leadership, the district police would remain accessible and responsive to the needs of the people.
When asked about the recent accusations made by Industries Minister Harshwardhan Singh Chauhan regarding alleged ties between Una police and criminal elements, Yadav responded cautiously. “I’ve just taken over and will take time to fully understand the ground realities. However, let me be clear—any officer found involved in collusion with the mafia will not be spared,” he asserted.
