The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially announced the Class 12 examination results for the academic session 2024–25. The exams were held from February 15 to April 4, 2025.
According to data released by the Board, a total of 17,04,367 students had registered, out of which 16,92,794 appeared for the exams. Of these, 14,96,307 students have been declared successful, resulting in an overall pass percentage of 88.39%, a slight improvement of 0.41 percentage points over last year’s 87.98%.
This year, the exams were conducted across 7,330 centres, up from 7,126 centres in 2024. Once again, girls outperformed boys, achieving a pass percentage of 91.64% compared to 85.70% for boys—a gap of 5.94 percentage points. Notably, students in the transgender category recorded a 100% pass rate.
In regional performance, Vijayawada emerged as the top-performing region with a remarkable 99.60% pass percentage, followed by Trivandrum (99.32%) and Chennai (97.39%). The lowest pass rate was recorded in the Prayagraj region at 79.53%. In Delhi, the West zone reported 95.37%, East zone 95.06%, and the overall Delhi region stood at 95.18%.
Students from CBSE-affiliated international schools also performed well. Out of 21,825 students, 20,694 passed, marking a 95.01% pass rate.
Among institutions, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas (JNVs) led with 99.29%, followed by Kendriya Vidyalayas (KVs) at 99.05%, and STSS schools at 98.96%. Government schools recorded 90.48%, while private (independent) schools stood at 87.94%.
In terms of high achievers:

1,11,544 students (6.59%) scored more than 90%.

24,867 students (1.47%) scored more than 95%.

In the CWSN (Children With Special Needs) category, 290 students scored above 90%, and 55 crossed the 95% mark.
However, the number of students placed in the compartment category saw a marginal increase. In 2025, 1,29,095 students (7.63%) were placed in this category, slightly up from 7.54% in 2024.
CBSE Controller of Examinations, Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj, confirmed that the results are now available on cbseresults.nic.in and other official platforms, including the DigiLocker app. He also expressed his gratitude to media representatives for their cooperation.
