Shimla, May 9: In light of escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu chaired a high-level meeting today with all Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and Superintendents of Police (SPs) across the state. The CM reviewed the prevailing situation in each district and instructed officials to maintain strict vigilance and ensure all necessary preparations are in place to effectively respond to any emergency.

Emphasizing caution without panic, CM Sukhu said that while the situation does not call for alarm, maintaining readiness at all levels is essential. He announced that all key government offices—including the Chief Minister’s Office, the Chief Secretary’s Office, and control rooms—will remain operational with limited staff over the upcoming three-day holiday period.

Special attention was directed toward border districts adjoining Pathankot, Chandigarh, and Jammu & Kashmir, with instructions for prompt action in case of siren alerts in neighboring states. The Chief Minister urged full and serious compliance with all advisories issued by the central and state governments to ensure public safety.

He also directed heightened security arrangements at religious sites, airports, dams, bridges, and other critical infrastructure. Regular mock drills were mandated in accordance with central government guidelines to strengthen preparedness. He assured that the state government will extend full support to enhance the functioning of established control rooms across Himachal Pradesh.

Expressing solidarity with the central government and the Indian Armed Forces, CM Sukhu commended the military for their resolute and courageous response to Pakistani provocations. “Our forces are defending the nation with extraordinary bravery and composure. We are proud of them,” he stated.

He also urged the people of Himachal to rely solely on official information and to avoid spreading or reacting to rumors or misleading messages.

Present at the meeting were Chief Minister’s Principal Media Advisor Naresh Chauhan, Chief Secretary Prabodh Saxena, Director General of Police Dr. Atul Verma, Additional Chief Secretaries K.K. Pant, Omkar Chand Sharma, R.D. Dhiman, Principal Secretary (Finance) Devesh Kumar, and Secretaries Abhishek Jain and Rakesh Kanwar. All DCs and SPs participated via video conference.
