New Delhi, May 8:
Following recent drone attacks by Pakistan in the Pathankot region, security agencies across several Indian states have been placed on high alert. While Jammu and Punjab’s border areas were already under heightened surveillance, the ripple effect has now extended to parts of Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. Reports of attempted attacks are now emerging from Jaisalmer as well.

Red Alert in Barmer, Blackout in Border Districts
In response to the escalation, a red alert has been declared in Barmer district, with a complete blackout enforced. Residents have been advised to remain indoors as a precaution.

Power Cut in Jodhpur and Jaisalmer
Electricity has been completely shut down in Jodhpur, while Jaisalmer is also experiencing a full-scale blackout. Authorities have instructed residents to switch off all lights and cover windows with curtains to minimize visibility from the air.

IPL Match in Dharamshala Called Off, Stadium Evacuated
An ongoing IPL match in Dharamshala between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was abruptly cancelled after the threat alert. Around 24,000 spectators were safely evacuated by army and police personnel. The stadium and surrounding areas have been blacked out, with a strong security presence deployed throughout.

Blackout in Pathankot and Jammu; Military on High Alert
Pathankot and Jammu regions have also been placed under blackout conditions to hinder aerial surveillance. The military has taken full control of key zones, and search operations are underway in sensitive areas.

Tightened Vigil Along Rajasthan-Gujarat Border
Increased surveillance has been implemented in the border districts of Rajasthan and Gujarat, including Barmer, Jaisalmer, Kutch, and Banaskantha. Joint teams from the BSF and state police are patrolling, and drone-based surveillance systems are active. Internet speeds have been intentionally reduced in some areas to curb the spread of misinformation.

Home Ministry Issues Nationwide Advisory
The Ministry of Home Affairs has instructed all states to remain vigilant and strengthen security protocols. The Defence and Home Ministers are in constant communication with military and intelligence agencies, and the National Security Advisor (NSA) is closely monitoring developments.

Public Advisory:
Authorities urge citizens not to believe or spread rumors and to report any suspicious activity to local officials immediately. While the situation in Dharamshala, Pathankot, and nearby border areas remains under control, enhanced security measures have been implemented as a precaution.
