Solan, May 5:
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Solan district police has arrested three individuals involved in heroin smuggling and seized illegally acquired assets worth approximately ₹46 lakh. The action was taken in the Parwanoo police station area during a routine patrol aimed at crime prevention.

Acting on a tip-off, SIU officials intercepted a Swift car traveling from Chandigarh toward Shimla. A search of the vehicle led to the recovery of around 15 grams of heroin from two occupants — Kuldeep Kumar (37) and Palvinder Singh (34), both residents of Shimla district. A case under the NDPS Act was promptly registered, and both suspects were taken into custody.

During interrogation, the accused revealed that the heroin was purchased from a supplier named Sushil Kumar, a resident of Chandigarh, who initially fled the scene but was later apprehended. Sushil Kumar already has a pending NDPS case registered against him in Baluganj, Shimla.

A financial investigation into the trio and their associates uncovered assets allegedly acquired using drug money. These included commercial vehicles and insurance policies, collectively valued at approximately ₹46 lakh. The police have seized these assets through legal proceedings.

This operation builds on Solan Police’s initiative, launched in 2024, to target drug traffickers by confiscating property gained through illicit trade. Between 2024 and 2025, assets worth around ₹5.5 crore have been seized across six major cases involving 18 accused and their accomplices.

Among the seizures, one case involved the recovery of 37 kilograms of high-quality charas. The remaining five cases were linked to heroin trafficking. Many of these cases trace the drug supply back to external states such as Punjab and Haryana.

Key individuals whose assets have been seized include Gurpreet Singh of Sirsa (Haryana), Kapil Garg of Chandigarh and his associates, Pintu from Bilaspur (with 40 prior criminal cases), Vijay Soni, and Sushil Kumar (Chandigarh). The confiscated assets span luxury hotels, residential and commercial plots, high-end vehicles, large cash deposits, and fixed deposits — most of them located outside Himachal Pradesh.
