IIT Mandi Receives $11,000 Scholarship Donation to Support Meritorious Students
NRI Couple’s Gift to Empower Underprivileged Talent
Mandi, May 2: Indian-origin couple Satish and Kamlesh Aggarwal, currently residing in Houston, USA, have donated over $11,000 to the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi. The amount, equivalent to more than ₹9 lakh, will be used to establish the Satish and Kamlesh Aggarwal Scholarship for deserving B.Tech students who demonstrate academic excellence but face financial hardships.
An official Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between IIT Mandi and the donors to formalize the initiative.
IIT Mandi Director Prof. Laxmidhar Behera and Prof. Varun Dutt, Dean of Resource Generation and Alumni Affairs, expressed their gratitude to the Aggarwals. They emphasized that contributions like these open new avenues for talented students and help strengthen the academic environment of the institute.
According to the Dean’s Office, the donation will directly support students from economically weaker sections, enabling them to pursue their academic goals and creating a broader positive impact on society.
Earlier This Year, IIT Mandi Received $85,000 from Mohinder L. Nayyar
In February this year, IIT Mandi received a generous donation of $85,000 (around ₹75 lakh) from Mohinder L. Nayyar, an Indian-American and alumnus of IIT Roorkee. Nayyar signed a tripartite MoU with IIT Mandi and the IIT Roorkee Foundation aimed at supporting academic development and nurturing long-term institutional goals.
Following that major contribution, the latest donation by Satish and Kamlesh Aggarwal marks another significant step in empowering financially disadvantaged students at IIT Mandi.
