Hamirpur, May 2: It was a day filled with pride and honor for Bharnot village in Baloh Gram Panchayat, part of the Hamirpur Assembly constituency, as two of its sons—and real brothers—returned home after retiring from the Indian Army on the same day. Subedar Sansar Chand and Havildar Kamaldev completed 30 and 26 years of service, respectively, and were welcomed back to their village on May 2.
To mark the occasion, a special ceremony was held in the village, attended by Hamirpur MLA Ashish Sharma as the chief guest. He honored both veterans with garlands and commendation letters, stating, “Society will always be indebted to those who dedicate the prime of their lives in service to the nation.”
MLA Sharma highlighted that the family stands as a shining example of patriotism, having served in the Indian Army for four generations. The brothers’ grandfather, father, all three siblings, and now a nephew have worn the uniform—making this legacy a source of inspiration not just for the village but the entire state.
“When our soldiers guard the nation’s borders day and night, it is because of their sacrifice that we can live in peace and safety,” Sharma added. “It is our duty to honor such brave individuals. Young people should draw inspiration from families like this and consider serving the nation as their calling.”
The village community gave a heartfelt welcome to the retired soldiers and praised their unwavering commitment. The day was steeped in patriotic spirit, and both veterans expressed their gratitude to the villagers and local administration. They also pledged to continue motivating local youth to pursue a career in the armed forces.
