Vikramaditya Singh Meets Union Minister, Seeks Inclusion of Pending Settlements Under PMGSY-IV
Shimla, May 1: Himachal Pradesh Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh met with Union Minister of State for Rural Development, Kamlesh Paswan, in New Delhi today. During the meeting, Singh urged the Union Minister to expedite the approval of 637 settlements in Himachal Pradesh that are currently pending verification for inclusion under Phase IV of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
Singh informed the Minister that 57% of the state’s road network has been developed under the PMGSY scheme. Despite this progress, the challenging topography of the region demands significantly higher funding. He noted that the state is currently spending ₹250 crore annually on the maintenance of PMGSY roads and requested additional financial support for the current fiscal year to strengthen road upkeep.
He further emphasized the need for upgrading three roads originally constructed under PMGSY-I and requested their inclusion in the PMGSY-IV phase. Singh also thanked the Union Minister for approving road projects under PMGSY-III and for extending the implementation timeline for four road projects in the Dodra-Kwar and Bara-Bhangal regions under PMGSY-I until March 31, 2026.
In response, Minister Paswan assured full support from the Centre to the state.
Senior officials from the Himachal Pradesh Public Works Department and the Ministry of Rural Development were also present during the meeting.
