Centre Approves Caste Census, a Welcome Move: CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu
Shimla, May 1: Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has welcomed the Centre’s approval for conducting a caste-based census in India, calling it a significant step towards social justice and inclusive development.
CM Sukhu praised the move, stating that senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi had been consistently advocating for a caste census to bring clarity on the true social and economic conditions of all communities in the country. “The Centre’s acceptance of this long-standing demand is a matter of satisfaction for all those who believe in equality and justice,” he said.
He described Rahul Gandhi as a just and visionary leader who has always stood up for the rights of the marginalized, backward, and neglected sections of society. “His goal is to ensure equal opportunities for every citizen, regardless of caste or class. The caste census will help direct welfare schemes toward the communities that truly need government support,” Sukhu added.
The Chief Minister termed the decision a milestone for social harmony and emphasized the need for it to be implemented with full transparency and fairness. He expressed hope that the upcoming census would be conducted based on accurate data, providing a solid foundation for understanding the country’s social structure.
