Rahul Kumar, a 2016-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, has officially assumed charge as the new Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Bilaspur. Upon his arrival at the district headquarters, he was warmly welcomed by officials and staff members.
Soon after taking charge, Kumar held his first meeting with district officials, emphasizing transparency, prompt service delivery, and keeping public interest at the core of administrative functioning.
An experienced and capable officer, Rahul Kumar has previously served in several key administrative roles. His past assignments include Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Sangrah in Sirmaur district, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of HIMURJA (Himachal Pradesh Energy Development Agency), Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Kangra, and Deputy Commissioner of the tribal district of Lahaul-Spiti. Across these postings, he has been recognized for his administrative efficiency, effective governance, and commitment to public service.
Known for his focus on innovation, transparency, and citizen participation, Kumar introduced notable initiatives during his tenure in Lahaul-Spiti, including improving access to public services, promoting digitization, and strengthening disaster management systems in the remote district.
His outstanding role in the successful conduct of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections also earned him the prestigious Presidential Award from the Government of India—an acknowledgment of his administrative excellence and dedication to duty.
With Rahul Kumar at the helm, the Bilaspur district administration is expected to see a renewed focus on good governance, transparency, and public welfare.
