Shimla, April 28:
The state government has intensified its action following the teachers’ protest at Chaura Maidan in Shimla. On Monday, the Education Department suspended four additional teachers, bringing the total number of suspended teachers to ten, after six were previously suspended in the wake of the demonstration.
According to orders issued by Director of School Education, Ashish Kohli, the suspended teachers are required to remain present at their designated headquarters and are prohibited from leaving without prior approval.
The suspended teachers are:
-
Anil Kumar, Centre Head Teacher at GCP School Ustehar Radh, Kangra
-
Pramod Chauhan, JBT at GPS Deem, Shimla
-
Sunita Sharma, Head Teacher at GPS Sidh Chalehar, Una
-
Hemraj, JBT at GPS Tandi, Mandi
During their suspension, the teachers have been assigned to specific headquarters:
-
Anil Kumar to BEEO Indora (Kangra)
-
Pramod Chauhan to CHT GCP School Dharchanana (EB Kufri, Shimla)
-
Sunita Sharma to CHT GCP School Budhan (EB Bangana, Una)
-
Hemraj to CHT Kamalah Fort (EB Dharampur-II, Mandi)
The suspensions have been ordered under the Civil Services (Conduct) Rules, 1965. The teachers will receive subsistence allowance as per the rules during their suspension.
The Education Department has directed district officials to strictly enforce these orders. The government has already made it clear that it will not tolerate protests against the restructuring of the Education Directorates. The department has instructed for disciplinary action against teachers identified as participating in the protests and has warned of strict action against those refusing to register attendance or complete online duties.
Notably, the protest was organized on Saturday under the banner of the Primary Teachers’ Association to oppose the restructuring of the Education Directorates. The government maintains that the restructuring is a policy decision and that compliance is mandatory for all employees.
