Bilaspur, April 29:
In a significant crackdown, the Special Detection Team of Bilaspur Police seized 55.6 grams of heroin (locally known as chitta) near Tunnel No. 2 in the Swarghat police station area on Tuesday. A youth from Punjab was arrested on the spot, who is believed to be a key figure in the drug trafficking network operating across Punjab and Himachal Pradesh.

The accused has been identified as Armaan, son of Babu Lal, a resident of House No. 41, Kumhar Mandi, Ferozepur Cantt (Punjab). The 23-year-old had allegedly been involved in the illegal trade of heroin for a considerable period.

Acting on a tip-off, the Special Detection Team led by Head Constable Ashu Verma (Badge No. 50) intercepted the suspect, who was reportedly attempting to smuggle a large consignment of heroin from Bilaspur to Punjab. The operation was executed near Tunnel No. 2, where the team apprehended the suspect red-handed.

DSP Madan Dhiman confirmed the arrest and stated that a case has been registered under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Swarghat Police Station.
