Kinnaur, April 22:
Inspiring success has emerged from the remote Sangla Valley of Kinnaur district, where 23-year-old Pratham Yambur, a native of the small village of Kamru, has cleared the prestigious UPSC Civil Services Examination in his second attempt, bringing immense pride to Himachal Pradesh.

Coming from a humble background, Pratham’s father, Vyas Sundar, is a farmer and orchardist, while his mother, Rajdevi, works as an Anganwadi worker. Pratham completed his early education at Shivalik Public School in Sangla and later pursued his higher secondary education in the non-medical stream at Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Reckong Peo. He went on to graduate with first-class honors in Arts from the University of Delhi.

After completing his graduation, Pratham began preparing for competitive exams. In 2024, he was selected for the position of Assistant Commandant (CISF) through the UPSC exam. However, driven by his dream of becoming an IAS officer, he chose not to accept the post and continued his preparation.

In the UPSC Mains held in September 2024, Pratham secured an All India Rank of 841, moving one step closer to realizing his dream. Alongside academics, he has always been actively involved in sports and co-curricular activities.

Pratham credits his success to the unwavering support of his parents and teachers. Sharing a message for the youth of Himachal, he said, “If you pursue your goal with hard work, dedication, sincerity, and commitment, no obstacle can stand in your way.” He also urged young people to stay away from drugs and remain focused on their aspirations.
