Bolero Accident in Shimla’s Dodra Kwar Claims One Life, Several Injured
Shimla, April 21 – A tragic accident occurred in the remote Dodra Kwar region of Rohru sub-division in Shimla district on Monday, resulting in the death of a woman and injuries to several others. The incident took place around 11:15 AM near Chabod Kainchi when a Bolero camper (HP 10A-6385), en route from Dodra to Gosango Bridge, lost control and fell into a gorge.
According to initial reports, approximately 26 passengers—residents of the Dodra area—were onboard the vehicle at the time of the accident. One of the passengers, Shana Devi (38), wife of Kamal Chand and a resident of Da village in Dodra Kwar, died on the spot.
Several others sustained injuries and were rushed to the local health center for first aid. Following the incident, a police team from the Chirgaon station reached the site and began rescue and relief operations.
The region, known for its challenging terrain and narrow, hazardous roads, often sees such mishaps. Preliminary investigation suggests that the vehicle was overloaded, which led to the driver losing control and the Bolero veering off the road.
Rohru DSP Pranav confirmed the incident, stating that rescue operations are ongoing and a detailed inquiry is underway to determine the exact cause of the accident.
