Solan, April 18: In a disturbing case of intimidation and physical harassment, Sunil Kumar, a resident of Ochghat, Solan, has accused individuals linked to illegal construction activities in the Nauni area of threatening his life and physically confronting him in broad daylight.

According to a complaint lodged at Solan Police Station, Sunil Kumar said he had raised his voice, along with local residents, against unauthorized sheds being constructed in the region. These structures, allegedly built without proper permissions, have long been a point of concern for the local community.

Confrontation at Air Pump Turns Ugly

The incident occurred while Sunil was getting air filled in his scooty at a local shop in Nauni. Prakash Kaushal, reportedly connected to the sheds in question, allegedly approached him, initiated a heated argument, and forcibly pulled his scooty from behind in an attempt to intimidate and provoke him.

Sunil also claimed that he had been receiving threats to his life from the women operating the illegal sheds and from Prakash Kaushal. He believes the threats are retaliation for his activism and complaint to the concerned authorities.

FIR Registered, Probe Underway

Acting on the complaint, Solan Police have filed an FIR under Sections 126(2), 115(2), 351(2), and 3(5) of the IPC (BNS). A police spokesperson confirmed that further investigation is underway to verify the claims and ensure the safety of the complainant.

Authorities are also expected to look into the illegal construction angle, which could open up broader inquiries into unauthorized encroachments in the Nauni area—an issue that has been brewing tension among locals for quite some time.

Citizens Demand Protection for Whistleblowers

This incident has sparked concern among civic activists and residents, who are demanding strict action against those trying to silence voices against illegal activities. Locals have urged the administration to take immediate steps to remove illegal structures and ensure the safety of citizens who speak up.

As the investigation progresses, pressure is mounting on authorities to ensure that activism is not met with aggression, and that justice prevails in the face of growing threats from vested interests.
