CM Sukhu Releases Book of 90-Year-Old Social Worker Hari Singh Rana
‘Mere Achhe Din’ reflects life of service and memories of historic political moments in Pangi
Shimla, April 18: In a heartwarming moment during the state-level Himachal Day celebrations in Pangi, Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu released the book “Mere Achhe Din” penned by 90-year-old social worker Hari Singh Rana. The touching ceremony recognized the lifelong contributions of Rana to social service and regional development.
Wearing the traditional white cap of the Pangi region, the elderly social reformer was warmly received by the Chief Minister, who ensured he was seated by his side during the event. The Chief Minister interacted cordially with Mr. Rana and congratulated him on his dedication and literary work.
A Life Dedicated to Service
Hari Singh Rana, a respected figure in the tribal Pangi region, is a former Pradhan of Killar Gram Panchayat (1979–1984). His book, “Mere Achhe Din”, offers a personal narrative filled with memories of political and social transformations witnessed over decades, including interactions with former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi and her memorable 1984 visit to Pangi.
During their emotional exchange, Mr. Rana recalled fond memories of his meetings with Indira Gandhi, including a visit to Delhi and her impactful trip to Pangi. He also praised the current government for its ongoing efforts to bring inclusive development to remote and tribal areas of Himachal.
Memorandum for Pangi’s Progress
On the same occasion, Mr. Rana submitted a memorandum of developmental demands for Pangi, urging further infrastructure and welfare initiatives. CM Sukhu responded positively, assuring action and reaffirming the state government’s commitment to the progress of inaccessible tribal regions.

The release event was attended by several dignitaries including Assembly Speaker Kuldeep Singh Pathania, MLA Sunder Singh Thakur, and Chairman of APMC Chamba Lalit Thakur. They appreciated Hari Singh Rana’s inspirational journey and praised his contributions to the cultural and civic life of the region.
