Shimla, April 17: A delegation from the Ani and Banjar areas of Kullu district met Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday, highlighting key local demands and seeking focused development in the region. The delegation was led by Milkfed Chairman Buddhi Singh Thakur, along with other local leaders and panchayat representatives.

During the meeting, CM Sukhu gave a positive assurance and emphasized the tourism potential of the Baga-Sarahan area, stating that the region will be developed with a focus on eco and rural tourism.

Tourism-Led Development to Generate Jobs

The Chief Minister said that developing the Baga-Sarahan region will not only enhance the tourism appeal of Kullu district but also generate employment opportunities for local youth. He added that the state government is committed to inclusive development, especially in rural and tribal pockets.

“This initiative will help open up new avenues of direct and indirect employment and bring sustainable economic benefits to the area,” said CM Sukhu.

Delegation Highlights Local Aspirations

The delegation included APMC Kullu Chairman Ram Singh and Pradhans from several Gram Panchayats of the Nirmand and Ani regions. They submitted a memorandum of demands to the Chief Minister, seeking better infrastructure, tourism facilities, and connectivity improvements in the area.

CM Sukhu assured the representatives that their issues will be considered sympathetically, and appropriate steps will be taken to address the developmental gaps.

The move signals a renewed focus on rural tourism as a growth engine in Himachal Pradesh, with Baga-Sarahan poised to become a new hotspot in the state’s tourism map.
