Mandi, April 17: In a shocking development, a threatening email received by the Mandi Deputy Commissioner’s office was found to be sent from an email ID bearing the name of Tahawwur Rana, the alleged mastermind of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks. The identity of the person operating this email account is still under investigation, as is the server and origin of the email.

DC Office Threatened with Bomb Blast

The threatening email, received on Wednesday morning, warned of a bomb blast in the DC complex on Thursday afternoon. The message triggered a massive response from the district administration, which immediately evacuated the DC office, SP office, and court complex as a precautionary measure.

Full-Day Search Yields No Explosives

Following the alert, search operations were carried out throughout the day by specialized teams from Kullu, Mandi, and Central Zone Mandi. The bomb squad and dog squad were deployed to inspect the entire campus. However, no explosives or suspicious materials were found.

SP Mandi: Tahawwur Rana Email ID Under Probe

SP Mandi Sakshi Verma confirmed that the email ID used in the threat was under the name of Tahawwur Rana. “The investigation of the email ID and server details is ongoing, and we are exploring all possible angles,” she said. The entire DC complex has been sealed, and 50 personnel have been deployed for security.
