Una, April 16: In a major breakthrough, the Himachal Pradesh Police has arrested the man who allegedly threatened to kill and kidnap former minister Virender Kanwar. The arrest was made in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh, after the police traced the accused through his mobile phone location. The accused is expected to be brought to Una by Thursday morning, where the case will be further investigated.

Two Threat Calls in Three Days Sparked Immediate Action

The shocking incident came to light when Virender Kanwar, a senior BJP leader and former minister, received two threat calls within a span of three days. Alarmed by the seriousness of the threat, he immediately contacted SP Una, Rakesh Singh, following which a formal FIR was registered and investigation began.

Accused Identified as Irfan, Not Dharmendra

Initially, the caller identified himself as Dharmendra from Aligarh, but police investigation revealed his real identity as Irfan. Acting swiftly, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) was dispatched to Uttar Pradesh, which successfully apprehended the accused on Wednesday.

According to sources, the accused will be produced in Una soon, and SP Rakesh Singh may address the media in a press conference once the accused is officially in police custody.

Police Remain Tight-Lipped, But Confirm Major Breakthrough

While senior police officials have not commented publicly on the case, reliable sources have confirmed that the arrest marks a significant success in ensuring the safety of public representatives and upholding law and order in the region.
