Una: Horrific road accident while returning from funeral, 12-year-old girl dies, 8 injured

Una, April 14: A tragic road accident occurred on Monday in Mawa Sindiyan village under sub-division Gagret, in which a 12-year-old girl died on the spot, while 8 others were injured. The accident occurred when a Tata Ace Tempo lost control and fell off the road while returning from the funeral.
According to the information received, some people from Gurpalah Bathu village of Haroli sub-division had come to attend the funeral of a relative in Bhanjal village. While returning after the program, the tempo met with an accident near Mawa Sindiyan. According to the driver Suchha Singh, the tire of the tempo suddenly burst, due to which the vehicle lost balance and fell off the road.
Immediately after the accident, there was a lot of screaming. Local people ran towards the spot and took out all the injured. 12-year-old Diksha, daughter of tempo driver Suchha Singh, was found unconscious and severely injured. She was rushed to Gagret Civil Hospital where doctors declared her dead. Other injured were admitted to the hospital after first aid.
The injured include Sanjeev Kumar, Anita Devi, Bina Devi, Gurnam, Rakesh Kumar, Shashi Bala, Usha Devi and Saroj Devi. Out of these, Anita, Sanjeev and Shashi Bala have been referred to Una Regional Hospital as their condition is critical.
SHO Sunny Guleria, in-charge of Gagret police station, said that the cause of the accident is being investigated and the body of the deceased girl has been sent to Regional Hospital Una for post-mortem.
