Una : Migrant Worker Brutally Killed with Iron Rod in Himachal, Wife Critically Injured
Shocking Incident in Una District; Three Arrested Including Husband-Wife Duo
Una, April 14:
A brutal murder has shaken the Ghaluwal area under Haroli subdivision of Himachal Pradesh’s Una district, where a 50-year-old migrant worker, identified as Pramod Kumar, was allegedly beaten to death with an iron rod and wooden stick. His wife Kabutri was also seriously injured in the attack and is currently undergoing treatment.
The police have arrested three people, including a husband-wife duo, in connection with the sensational crime. The incident has triggered shock and anger in the local community, especially among the migrant population.
Dispute Escalated into Fatal Violence
According to initial police findings, a dispute broke out between two migrant families, all originally from Bihar, residing in adjacent huts in a local slum. The accused, Soochit and his son Anshul, reportedly got into a heated argument, which escalated when Anshul began verbally abusing Pramod Kumar without provocation.
When Pramod tried to defuse the situation and advised them to resolve their issues privately, the father-son duo, joined by Anshul’s wife, turned violent. They attacked Pramod with iron rods and sticks, hitting him fatally on the head.
Pramod’s wife, Kabutri, tried to intervene but was also beaten and left severely injured.
Murder Case Registered, Investigation Underway
Superintendent of Police Rakesh Singh confirmed that a case of murder has been registered and three individuals have been arrested.
“The case is being investigated from all angles. We are ensuring no stone is left unturned,” said SP Singh.
The body of the deceased was handed over to the family after post-mortem. The police are also probing the background of the accused and the possible history of disputes between the families.
This horrific incident raises serious concerns about safety and conflict resolution mechanisms in migrant settlements, where tensions can escalate quickly in confined living spaces.
