Solan celebrates Baisakhi with vibrant festivities, cultural programs, and welfare announcements

Health, Social Justice and Soldier Welfare Minister Colonel Dr. Dhaniram Shandil emphasized the cultural and agricultural significance of the Baisakhi festival, calling it a “symbol of prosperity” during his address at a vibrant fair held in Sairi (Pajo) on Sunday.
Speaking to a large gathering, Dr. Shandil highlighted that Baisakhi marks the ripening of the Rabi crop, a moment of joy and abundance for farming communities, especially in agrarian states like Himachal Pradesh. “Fairs and festivals not only bring people together but also connect the youth with our ancient heritage,” he added.
Announcements Worth Lakhs for Local Development
During the event, Dr. Shandil made several key announcements:

₹10 lakh sanctioned for the ongoing construction of an Anganwadi centre in Sairi (Pajo)

₹5 lakh as the first installment for the expansion of the village playground

₹5,100 cash prize to children who performed in the cultural programs

Directed officials to prepare an estimate for a new drinking water tank in Ward No. 11
Cultural Festivities and Community Involvement
The event saw enthusiastic participation from locals and schoolchildren. Cultural performances by students of Government Primary School Sairi (Pajo) received wide appreciation. A traditional wrestling match organized by the Baisakhi Mela Committee added to the festive spirit.
Mayor Usha Sharma, Jogindra Cooperative Bank Chairman Mukesh Sharma, retired Colonel Sanjay Shandil, and other dignitaries also graced the occasion.
