Shimla, April 11:
A welcome change in weather swept across Himachal Pradesh on Thursday and continued into Friday, bringing much-needed relief from the unseasonal heat. Early Friday morning, the capital city Shimla witnessed a spell of heavy rainfall accompanied by a hailstorm, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for several districts, including Chamba, Kangra, Kullu, and Mandi, warning of hailstorms and strong winds expected to persist until April 12.

According to Sandeep Sharma, a scientist at the Meteorological Center in Shimla, several parts of the state received rainfall in the past 24 hours. Notable figures include 19 mm in Gauhar (Mandi) and 14 mm in Pandoh. Other regions like Chamba, Lahaul-Spiti, Kullu, and Kinnaur also reported scattered showers.

The drop in mercury has brought a respite to residents, with temperatures dipping by 4 to 6 degrees Celsius across affected areas. While light rainfall may continue in parts of the state through Saturday, weather conditions are expected to stabilize and clear up from April 13 onwards.

As Himachal braces for another round of possible hail and thunderstorms, locals and tourists are advised to stay updated with weather alerts and take necessary precautions.
