Two Arki Youths Nabbed with Chitta in Swift Car: Repeat Offenders in Drug Smuggling

Solan, April 10 – In a major breakthrough, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Solan Police arrested two habitual offenders from Arki for smuggling chitta (heroin) under the Darlaghat police station limits. Acting on a tip-off, police intercepted a white Swift car (HP-64B-0642) near Bhararighat and seized over 9 grams of chitta from the vehicle.
The accused, Mukesh Verma (36) and Hitendra (27), both residents of Bhararighat in Tehsil Arki, were caught red-handed during routine crime prevention and patrolling operations. Police swiftly set up a roadblock after receiving intelligence inputs and successfully apprehended the duo.
Further investigation revealed a criminal history linked to both individuals. Mukesh Verma is involved in a past vehicle accident case in Dadlaghat, while Hitendra has been previously booked for possessing 220 grams of opium and 355 grams of hashish in Banjar, Kullu, along with 6 grams of chitta in Bilaspur.
Following their arrest, the accused were presented in court and sent to 5-day police remand, after which they are now in judicial custody. The seized vehicle has also been impounded. Solan SP Gaurav Singh confirmed the arrests, stating that further investigation is underway to uncover deeper links in the drug trafficking network.
