Mandi, April 9:

Former Union Minister and Member of Parliament, Anurag Thakur, recently met with Himachali students studying MBBS at Samarkand University in Uzbekistan. Over 400 students from Himachal Pradesh are currently enrolled at the university, pursuing medical degrees. During his visit, Thakur interacted with the students and also met Dr. Sunil Sharma, the university’s official representative, to learn more about the academic and infrastructural facilities offered to the students.

Dr. Sharma, who hails from Sarkaghat in Himachal Pradesh, provided valuable insights into the educational system and the support available for Himachali students. Thakur took the opportunity to inspire the students, speaking about India’s growing global influence under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He emphasized the importance of completing their education and contributing to the nation’s progress.

Thakur also highlighted the Modi government’s significant advancements in healthcare education, noting the establishment of six new medical colleges in Himachal Pradesh and the creation of an AIIMS institute in his parliamentary constituency, which he called a historic achievement for the state.

The visit also saw the presence of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, who took time to motivate the students and encourage them in their academic journey. Both Thakur and Birla were in Uzbekistan to attend the 150th session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in Tashkent, and during their trip, they made time to engage with Indian students in Samarkand.
