Shimla, April 8:
A shocking incident of murder has sent ripples of fear through the Theog subdivision of Shimla district, as a workshop owner was arrested for killing a JCB driver on Monday evening in the Sainj area. This marks the second murder within a week in the region, intensifying concerns about safety among local residents.

The victim, identified as 35-year-old Ravi, a JCB driver from Sundarnagar in Mandi district, was brutally killed in Sainj under the jurisdiction of Theog police station. The accused, Anil, hails from Darlaghat in Solan district and runs a workshop in Sainj on a rented property. Initial investigations suggest that the murder was committed using a weapon.

The incident occurred when Ravi, who frequently visited Kuldeep Singh’s shop in Sainj, left the shop around 5:00 PM on Monday. Just minutes after his departure, Kuldeep heard a loud noise coming from Anil’s workshop. Upon stepping outside, Kuldeep overheard Anil speaking on the phone, admitting that he had beaten someone to death.

Disturbed by the statement, Kuldeep later learned that Ravi had been rushed to Theog Hospital, where doctors declared him dead. In his formal complaint to the police, Kuldeep accused Anil of the murder and called for strict action against him.

The police responded promptly, arresting Anil and registering a case under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for murder. The body was sent for post-mortem to determine the exact cause of death. DSP Theog, Siddharth Sharma, confirmed the arrest and assured that the investigation was being conducted thoroughly, given the seriousness of the case.

This incident has left the local community in shock, as it marks the second murder in the area within a week. On April 2, a youth of Nepali origin was also murdered in Theog, with the police quickly apprehending the accused in that case as well. The string of violent events has raised alarm in the region, prompting calls for greater vigilance and security measures.
