Vikramaditya Singh Criticizes MP Kangana Ranaut Over Disregard for DISHA Meetings and MP Responsibilities
Public Works Minister Vikramaditya Singh
Shimla, 03 April: Himachal Pradesh’s Public Works Minister, Vikramaditya Singh, has sharply criticized Mandi MP Kangana Ranaut for neglecting her duties as a Member of Parliament (MP). Singh, while addressing the media, claimed that Ranaut, who has been an MP for over a year, has shown little interest in fulfilling her responsibilities, particularly in relation to the DISHA committee, which she is supposed to oversee.
According to Singh, Kangana Ranaut has failed to attend crucial DISHA meetings, an important forum where development work and guidelines are discussed for the constituency. “It has been more than a year since she became the MP, but she has not even bothered to attend important meetings of DISHA, which falls under her purview,” Singh said, questioning the MP’s commitment to her role. He further pointed out that Ranaut had been seen in the state only twice during this period, with one of the appearances being for the inauguration of her private cafe, adding to the concerns about her engagement with the constituency’s real needs.
Singh’s comments were direct: “Kangana Ranaut should take her responsibilities as an MP more seriously and attend to the important matters of governance. Serving the people is more than just being a figurehead; it requires active participation and commitment.”
In addition to his criticism of Ranaut, Vikramaditya Singh also responded to recent political developments, particularly the Waqf Board Amendment Bill, which has stirred debate in the state. Singh, a key Congress leader, stated that the Congress Party, along with other parties in the India Block, had expressed strong concerns over the bill, pointing out its potential contradictions and its possible conflict with constitutional principles. “The government must work within the framework of the Constitution, and this bill, as it stands, does not align with that framework,” Singh argued.
Furthermore, Singh took aim at Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur’s recent statements regarding financial support from the central government. Responding to Thakur’s remarks, Singh reminded him that during the budget session of the state assembly, Thakur had expressed gratitude to the Central Government for the assistance provided under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana. Singh suggested that Thakur had forgotten his own words, especially since the state government has yet to receive the funds under the Prime Minister’s Development Package (PDNA), which the Chief Minister has been advocating for.
Singh’s remarks have added to the growing political discourse in the state, particularly as the Opposition and ruling party continue to clash over various issues, including the responsibilities of elected representatives and the handling of state affairs.
