Mandi, March 30 – The celebration of the Hindu New Year in Mandi this year was marked by a grand and collective event, uniting people of different castes, religions, and political affiliations in a display of unity and cultural pride. The ceremony, organized by Dharma Sangh Shri Bhootnath Temple Mandi, was significantly expanded this year after being held on a smaller scale for the past two years. The celebrations took place at the Seri Stage in Mandi, with thousands of people coming together to usher in the new year with prayers, cultural performances, and a sense of community spirit.

The event began with a Havan Yagya, a sacred fire ritual, followed by the Purnahuti, marking the completion of the ceremony. The Havan, conducted with utmost reverence, brought together people from all walks of life to offer prayers for peace, prosperity, and well-being in the coming year.

One of the highlights of the event was the wide participation of leaders from various political parties and social organizations. BJP MLA from Sadar, Anil Sharma, was present to wish everyone a Happy Hindu New Year, offering blessings for the new year and expressing hope for new initiatives and positive changes in the coming months. He also commended the efforts of Dharma Sangh Shri Bhootnath Temple for organizing such a large-scale event and bringing together people from different backgrounds.

Balh MLA Indra Singh Gandhi, APMAC Chairman Sanjeev Guleria, and Congress leader Champa Thakur were also present at the event, demonstrating the inclusive nature of the celebration. Leaders from various political parties, local government officials, and religious leaders all gathered to mark the occasion, showcasing the unity among the people of Mandi, regardless of their affiliations.

BC Saroch, the President of Dharma Sangh Shri Bhootnath Temple Mandi, along with Convener Neeraj Handa, shared their vision for the future of the celebration. Saroch emphasized that while traditionally the Hindu New Year had been a family affair, over the past two years, it had transitioned into a public event, allowing more people to participate and celebrate together. Handa mentioned that the event would serve as an example for other regions of North India, and in the future, it would be presented as a model for showcasing Sanatan culture. He noted that such events are crucial for the younger generation to understand and appreciate the richness of their cultural heritage.

The celebration was not just a religious observance but also a cultural extravaganza. Local schoolchildren, women, and men presented performances that highlighted Mandi’s rich cultural traditions, including folk dances, songs, and theatrical performances. These programs offered a vibrant glimpse into the ancient customs and traditions that have been passed down through generations. The performances were warmly received by the audience, further adding to the festive atmosphere of the day.

Prominent figures from various organizations, including Mandi Municipal Corporation Mayor Virendra Bhatt, councilors, and leaders of political parties, also attended the function, reinforcing the inclusive nature of the celebration. The presence of such a diverse group of people was a powerful testament to the communal harmony and unity that the event fostered.

As the ceremony concluded, the collective prayers and blessings for the New Year filled the air, and people left the event with renewed spirits and a sense of unity. The grand celebration of Hindu New Year in Mandi this year was not just a reflection of religious devotion but a celebration of the town’s rich cultural heritage, its diverse community, and the shared hope for a brighter and prosperous future.
