Shimla, March 25: A shocking incident unfolded at the SDM office in Dodra Kwar, Shimla, when a Panchayat Secretary attempted to attack the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM), Dharmesh Kumar, after causing a disturbance in the office. The incident led to chaos, with police and office staff trying to intervene. In the process, a head constable and a clerk were injured while attempting to control the situation. The Panchayat Secretary, Narayan Singh, was arrested following the attack, and a case has been registered against him under various sections of the Indian Penal Code.
The incident took place on Monday afternoon when SDM Dharmesh Kumar was holding a routine meeting with government officials and employees in his office. Narayan Singh, the Secretary of Gram Panchayat Jakha, unexpectedly entered the office and began using abusive language. Witnesses stated that his behavior was unprovoked, and he started to threaten the SDM. When SDM Kumar requested him to calm down, Singh’s aggression escalated, and he attempted to attack the SDM.
The situation quickly turned chaotic as employees and police personnel tried to intervene and restrain Singh. During this altercation, Head Constable Gulab and Clerk Suchha Singh were also attacked. Narayan Singh physically scuffled with both of them. Head Constable Gulab suffered severe injuries to his fingers during the confrontation and had to be admitted to the hospital. Clerk Suchha Singh sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.
As soon as the authorities were informed, the police swiftly arrived at the scene and arrested Narayan Singh. He was taken into custody, and a formal complaint was lodged by Clerk Suchha Singh, following which a case was registered at the Chidgaon Police Station. The accused faces charges under sections 132, 121(2), 352, and 351(2) of the Indian Penal Code, including assaulting a public servant, using abusive language, and causing physical harm.
The incident has drawn significant attention due to the unexpected nature of the attack, especially in a government office. The police administration has made it clear that they are taking the matter seriously and will take strict legal action against the accused. DSP Rohru, Pranav Chauhan, assured the public that the investigation is ongoing and emphasized that no leniency would be shown to those who engage in such violent behavior.
