Mandi Police Solve Firing and Robbery Case in Just 3 Days, Accused Identified as Brothers from UP
Superintendent of Police Sakshi Verma talking to journalists
Mandi, March 25: The Mandi police have successfully solved the robbery and firing incident that took place in Pulgharat, Mandi city, on the night of March 21, within just three days. The accused, identified as two real brothers from Muzaffarpur, Uttar Pradesh, were arrested last night from Nerchowk. The two suspects, 25-year-old Mohammad Ajmal and 19-year-old Azam, have been living in Ratti of Balh for a while and work as laborers.
Superintendent of Police (SP) Mandi, Sakshi Verma, shared that the case initially seemed challenging for the police due to the cunning execution of the crime. The accused used a bike without a number plate, and neither the Dhaba owner nor CCTV footage could provide clear identification. The investigation seemed to hit a dead end as the suspects were very careful.
However, the police did not give up. They started by analyzing CCTV footage from ITMS and toll plazas between Manali and the Himachal border. Clues gathered from these sources led to the formation of a special investigation team, led by Additional Superintendent of Police LR Sachin Hiremath. After thorough work, the team identified the bike involved in the crime on March 24 and, through further evidence, traced the suspects.
The accused were wrongly linked to Punjab on social media, but the investigation revealed that they are from Muzaffarpur, Uttar Pradesh, which debunked these rumors.
Currently, the police are investigating the modified bike used in the crime and are awaiting an expert examination of the recovered pistol. Authorities are also looking into the criminal backgrounds of the brothers in Muzaffarpur and are continuing to interrogate them to determine their motives for the robbery and firing.
