Sundernagar, March 20, 2025 A sudden and intense fire broke out in a car parked outside the SDM office in Sundernagar, Mandi district, on Thursday morning. The blaze was so severe that the car was reduced to ashes in a matter of minutes. Fortunately, no one was inside the vehicle at the time, preventing any loss of life. However, the car was completely destroyed in the fire.

The incident occurred when another car parked nearby also caught fire due to the intensity of the flames. The owner of this second car, upon hearing of the incident, rushed to the scene and managed to save his vehicle from catching fire. The situation could have been much worse had it not been for the quick action of the car owner.

According to reports, the first car had been parked by its owner on the roadside, stretching from Lalit Nagar to MLSM College in Sundernagar, when the fire suddenly erupted. The cause of the fire is still unknown, but it appears to have started in the engine compartment, with the flames quickly engulfing the entire vehicle.

Upon receiving news of the fire, SDM Sundernagar Amar Negi, DSP Bharat Bhushan, along with local councilors and police personnel, quickly arrived at the site to assess the situation. The fire caused significant disruption in the area, leading to a long traffic jam on both sides of the road, as the flames and smoke blocked the route.

To contain the fire, three fire brigades from the local fire department were dispatched to the location. Firefighters worked quickly and efficiently to bring the blaze under control and prevent it from spreading further. The prompt response of the fire department ensured that the fire was contained before it could cause additional damage to nearby structures or vehicles.

SDM Amar Negi, who was present at the scene, confirmed that the vehicle had been completely destroyed in the fire. He expressed concern over the parking situation outside the SDM office, noting that unauthorized parking in the area had contributed to the incident. Negi stated that the police would take strict action against unauthorized parking along the MLSM road and outside the SDM office to prevent such incidents in the future.

In response to the incident, office orders have been issued to ensure better management of parking in the area. SDM Negi emphasized that these measures were necessary to prevent further mishaps, as unauthorized parking posed both safety and traffic hazards.

While the fire incident in Sundernagar has been resolved, it has sparked concerns about the safety of parked vehicles, particularly in busy areas. Local residents and commuters have called for stricter enforcement of parking regulations, especially near government offices, where vehicles are often parked without proper authorization.

The incident also raised questions about the effectiveness of fire safety measures and the need for better awareness regarding vehicle maintenance. Experts suggest that regular checks on vehicle electrical systems, especially in older models, could help reduce the likelihood of such incidents.

Sundernagar, a bustling sub-division of Mandi district, is no stranger to traffic-related challenges, but this fire incident has added an alarming dimension to the ongoing concerns about parking and vehicle safety. Authorities are now looking into the incident to determine the exact cause of the fire, while taking preventive measures to ensure that such an event does not happen again.

In the aftermath of the fire, the SDM’s office has also been reviewing the safety protocols for parking and vehicle management in the area. It is expected that new guidelines and more stringent regulations will be put in place to safeguard against similar incidents in the future.

As the investigation continues, the residents of Sundernagar remain on alert, hoping that this incident serves as a reminder of the importance of adhering to safety guidelines and regulations to prevent future accidents.
