Major Damage to Tree Caused by Lightning Strike Near St. Luke’s School Solan
Solan, March 16: A lightning struck the tree in the premise of St. Luke School located in Himachal Pradesh’s Solan distict late Friday night which damaged the school building to a greater extent. The phenomenon occurring at 1:58 AM, when a lightning bolt struck a tree next to the school causing a powerful explosion that woke up neighbors. The blast broke windows and cracked walls of the school building.
Fortunately, the school was closed at that time and there was no one inside. Luckily, the timing spared what could have been a deadly situation if students and teachers had been present. The local community and school administration went into panic after loud sound from the explosion spread fear in the area.
The school manager, P. Sahairaj, descriptive the incident saying, “A very loud explosion was heard exactly at 1:58 AM, which led to panic among people in the surrounding area. In the morning when the school security team surveyed the premises they found the extent of damage caused by lightning,” He also noted the relief that no one had been inside the building at the time of the accident, averting a major tragedy.
The school administration reported the incident at once and an investigation began to determine the extent of damage done. The administration says that it will provide repairs and that it will take other steps to ensure that accidents of this nature do not occur in the future.
They listened to the administration, who visited the local site and assessed the damage done, as well as assuring the community and students that the school would be safe in the future and calling for the necessary guidelines for security measures to be taken immediately.
