BJP’s Trilok Jamwal Protecting Attackers: Bumber Thakur
Shimla, March 15: The attack on former Congress MLA Bumber Thakur from Bilaspur has heightened tensions in Himachal Pradesh politics. Thakur is undergoing treatment at IGMC Shimla and is now said to be out of danger is making serious allegations against the Bilaspur BJP MLA Trilok Jamwal. Thakur alleges that those who planned the attack have Jamwal’s backing and accuses him of defending the attackers.
Thakur said the shooters were linked with the illegal “chitta” drug trade, and that he has been waging a campaign against the narcotics business in Bilaspur, which is suspected to have led to the shooting. He raised the issue of the security situation, saying that the public was unsafe under the Congress government led by Sukhu. “If a former MLA is not even safe, can we imagine what would happen when there is a BJP government? Thakur said Chief Minister should be serious about this.
The previous MLA also pointed out that he had been seeking a pistol for self-defense but that his application was pending in the Home Department for more than a month. The attackers were professional shooters, and they were brought from Haryana to execute the attack, he said.
The BJP officials, in response, dismissed Thakur’s allegations, calling it baseless and politically motivated. They also mentioned that Thakur has been attacked several times earlier and said that the Congress government should be held accountable for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. “Bullets are fired in broad daylight under Congress rule, there is no law and order in the state. A thorough investigation should be conducted in this case,” said a BJP spokesperson.
