“Green Warriors for Green Dharamshala”: New Campaign Launched by Dharamshala

Dharamshala, March 13: The Dharamshala Municipal Corporation has launched the campaign of “Green Warriors for Green Dharamshala” with a view to transforming the city into an environmentally friendly city. Initiative commenced with tree plantation event on March 12, 2025 by planting saplings by Commissioner, Municipal Corporation-cum-Director working, Smart City Zafar Iqbal at Samridhi Vatika, Charan Dharamshala. The Municipal Corporation, Dharamshala Smart City Limited, and members of the Vision for Victory Association (VVA), which donated the saplings, attended the event.

The campaign “Green Warriors for Green Dharamshala” will involve people from all spheres, NGOs, banks, hotel associations, corporate institutions and citizens, to make Dharamshala greener. It aims to galvanize the city into a beautification and green scheme initiative, whereby individuals and groups plant trees and contribute to city beautification.

Addressing the gathering Zafar Iqbal said that community involvement was the key to achieve a clean and green Dharamshala. He encouraged residents to actively participate in this campaign by donating saplings or financial support to help achieve the city’s green targets. The names of donors will be carved on the “Green Warriors Honor Board” — wild at heart, bolder by nature, and pasted around the city as a tribute to their contribution.

Under this initiative, the Municipal Corporation will be planting and beautifying many of its public places, gardens, and parks. At the heart of the programme is making sure a well stocked supply of sunlight to the plants and trees for they to flourish and develop, increasing their stay in the city.

To combat pollution, increase green spaces and promote sustainable development in Dharamshala. The aim is to develop a more eco-friendly, cleaner urban environment that is enjoyable for both residents and visitors.
