CM announces opening of new courses and development projects at Hamirpur college and Sujanpur area

Shimla, March 12: Under the ambitious educational agenda of the State undertaken by Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, various new academic courses were introduced in the Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Memorial Mahavidyalaya, Hamirpur. Addressing the college’s annual function, Sukhu said that from the next academic session, MBA, MCA and postgraduate courses in History and Political Science would be offered in the college. It is anticipated that this initiative will offer a wider variety of educational choices for students in the area and enhance their future career opportunities.

In addition to the new courses, the Chief Minister announced a slew of infrastructural upgrades for the college that include repair of the synthetic track and construction of a hostel providing accommodation to 100 girls. This is in line with the government’s commitment to enhance the education system and the welfare of students in the state.

Establishment of Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day-Boarding Schools

The Chief Minister also announced to open a co-educational government senior secondary school in Hamirpur to be developed as a Rajiv Gandhi Government Model Day-Boarding School. This school will be based on the day-boarding system, which means students will attend classes during the day and have access to additional support and facilities. He also announced that similar schools will also be set up in Nadaun and Bhoranj from next year, and in other assembly constituencies in the state in the days to come.

Smart Classrooms and Anti Drug Campaign

Sukhu reiterated the state government’s intention to enhance the education system by introducing smart classrooms. This will ensure the schools have a modern, digital learning ecosystem. In addition, the Chief Minister disclosed that their administration has closely been highlighting the performance of Educational departments including the Education Department on the CM Dashboard for accountability and effective administration.

Reiterating the state government’s zero tolerance policy against drugs, the Chief Minister stated that the anti-drug campaign continues across the state. Government is taking strict action on drug mafia and is also making all efforts to save the youth from drug menace.

Welfare for Orphaned Children and Widow Families

Sukhu also reminisced about his own humble beginnings and pledged to work for upliftment of marginalized communities. After assuming the office of Chief Minister, he shared, he visited Tutikandi Balika Ashram to meet orphan girls and brought in a law so that the state government could take on the responsibility of the affairs of the children. The Mukhyamantri Sukh Shiksha Yojana was also launched by the government, under which, the children of widows get free education.

Sujanpur: Inauguration of Developmental Projects

The Chief Minister during his visit also dedicated and laid the foundation stones of developmental projects worth Rs 43.64 crore in Sujanpur Assembly Constituency. The importance of key projects attached to it as Rajiv Gandhi Model Day-Boarding School in Karot, lift water supply scheme in Salghoon-Ghatta and extension of Government Senior Secondary School Kuthera. It has also included the construction of community health centers, lodging for medical staff, and various infrastructure upgrades, like roads and bus terminals, projects that are helpful to the general population.

He said the projects would also help improve basic amenities and services for the people of Sujanpur. “These developmental projects will act as a milestone in ensuring better infrastructure and public services,” he said.

Advancement in Health Sector

Sukhu, while addressing the state’s healthcare needs, noted upon the rechristening, that the government was upgrading medical facilities. He explained that many of the machines are outdated in hospitals, many are 20 to 20 years old, there was no way to treat him properly. To this end, the government has provided Rs 85 crore for a cancer hospital in Hamirpur and intends to bring high technology to health institutions in the state.

Enhancement social attitudes and equality between genders

The Chief Minister also acknowledged the changes in the social fabric of the Pradesh mentioning that the sex ratio in Hamirpur district had improved in an unprecedented manner. He attributed these accomplishments to the government’s progress in changing the attitude of society toward girls and promoting gender equality — a substantial achievement amid the state’s transformation.

Celebrating Contributions to Culture

Also on the annual function, Sukhu got students excelling in various fora honored and announced a Rs 5 lakh grant-in-aid to the college for promoting cultural activities. The students performed some cultural activities which enlivened the ceremony.

The new learning facilities being introduced and various development undertakings initiated are in line with the vision of Himachal Pradesh — a Himachal Pradesh that the Chief Minister attributes to a more progressive and inclusive society. Through a focus on education, infrastructure, and welfare development, his government is attempting to provide better opportunities to students, improve public services, and uplift marginalized communities.

The presence on the occasion of MLA Suresh Kumar, Captain Ranjit Singh Rana and other prominent persons which highlighted the weightage of these initiatives being appreciated widely.
