Kinnaur’s Anchal Negi becomes IndiGo Air Hostess, inspires daughters of tribal area

Disclosing a splendid finish to its mission, ‘Air Hostess Training’ aspirant Anchal Negi, who hails from Pangi village in Kinnaur district of Himachal Pradesh, has been placed with IndiGo Airlines as air hostess. Achieving this feat at the tender age of 18, her success shines down as a ray of hope and motivation for daughters hailing from the tribal areas of the region, showcasing how resolution and hard work can go a long way managing to overcome hurdles.
Anchal has officially joined IndiGo Air Lines as an air hostess under a work order on March 7, 2025, after which she will be posted in Chennai. She was appointed to this coveted assignment, which is enhancing her quality and the potential of young women from remote, tribal areas to achieve greater heights, in whatever they are doing.
It has not been a straightforward journey for Anchal either. She grew up in the picturesque yet rough terrain of Kinnaur on the outskirts of Himachal, but she was bent on living her dreams with minimal opportunities in her own native state. She did her primary education from DAV Centenary Public School Reckong Peo and Secondary education from DPS Jhakri. In her locality, aviation is considered a rare career; thus, after completing her studies, she decided to expand her horizons and chose a career in aviation.
Determined, she enrolled at AKS International Air Hostess Training Institute and trained for two years. It was her dedication and determination during this training that became the reason why IndiGo Airlines recognised her potential to hire her as the air hostess.
The strike rate of Anchal is not only her success but of her whole family and society. She makes her father, Ajay Kumar, and grandfather, Roshan Lal, extraordinarily proud having achieved the unbelievable; through high aspirations and resilience, young women from the most challenging of backgrounds can reach their goals.
Such success of Anchal will surely inspire the other daughters of Kinnaur and Himachal Pradesh, especially from the tribal areas, to chase their dreams and break the shackles of traditional limitations. She has shown us all that as long as you are willing to work hard and that the opportunities are there — you can make it.
