Women’s Day: Pratibha Singh Demands More Representation For Women in Government
Congress State President Pratibha Singh
Shimla, March 8, 2025:
Various functions were held in Himachal Pradesh on Wednesday to mark International Women Day. Shimla’s Congress office hosted a “Mahila Samman” event, where the Youth Congress recognized outstanding women in different fields. Hailing the winners on the state level calling them inspiration to all, Congress State President Pratibha Singh, attended the winners programme as chief guest.
Pratibha Singh at the occasion described the pivotal role of women in bringing India to this stage of progress. Speaking in the same vein, she also pointed out how over the years, the Congress party has played a critical role in women’s empowerment, including the late Indira Gandhi, first female Prime Minister, Pratibha Patil, first woman President of India and Meira Kumar, the first woman Speaker of the Lok Sabha. Singh pointed out that the Congress party here had started multiple schemes to lift the women of the country.
Singh further lauded the steadfastness of the women in Himachal Pradesh, stating that even though they are confronted with a plethora of challenges, women in the state work shoulder to shoulder with men and play a critical part in the growth and progress of the area. She emphasized having more women represented in numerous government agencies, such as the Women’s Commission. “Women must have their place in government and other institutions. “We will talk with the government so that women get more opportunities and participation in decision-making,” she said.
It served as a reminder of the constant battle that will continue to be fought to appreciate the contributions of women in every field. It was also an avenue to emphasize the persistent need for equal opportunities and support for women in all fields, including politics, governance and public administration.
As the Women’s Day ran its celebrations across the state, Pratibha Singh’s demand to increase women’s representation in the institutions of the government echoed with many.” Her speech didn’t just reaffirm the Congress party’s perennial vow to women’s empowerment; it motivated many to keep fighting for equality and inclusion in all domains of public life.
