HPBOSE: 10th Exam Question Papers 50% A Series – 50% B Series – Students in Panic
Shimla, March 07: A serious anomaly has emerged during the ongoing tenth class examinations being conducted by the Himachal Pradesh School Education Board (HPBOSE), which has used the question paper of the subject a day in advance as a question bank for the students, causing confusion among the students thousands under mental stress. At four examination centers in Shimla, students noticed a significant difference in the English subject question paper while appearing for the exam, which halted the examination process due to an error.
As per the information received by the Diary Times News Network, students received the first four pages of the question paper from Series A; however when they turned to the fifth page instead of getting the question we had expected from Series A, the question:set was shifted and they found the questions coming up from Series B which totally shocked them with what to follow in which the series they were following while answering. Due to the instant shift of Series A to Series B created the chaos in the examination halls.
Board’s Confused Response
After the HPBOSE was informed of the matter, the board recommended students ask for photocopies of the question papers. Distant examination centers had no nearby photocopying facilities which led to confusion and frustration for the suggestion. Not only did the advice created added work pressure on students but also caused mental strain during an exam that is already hard enough.
The Exam System — Raising Concerns
The error has cast a pall on the examination process and raised serious questions about the board’s accountability. Educationists and parents are calling for stricter checks before examinations to avoid similar mistakes in future. Such lapses are said to undermine the education system, designed to guide students toward a successful future.
Board Secretary’s Statement
HPBOSE Secretary Dr Vishal Sharma also commented on the incident, saying that the issue was due to a binding error. He said the board is looking into the issue, and action will be taken if any formal complaints are received. The board also directed the examination centers to extend time to the students affected by the incident.
