Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu today issued an assurance to the delegation of State Medical and Dental Teachers Association that his government would seriously consider their various demands. The delegation comprised of President Dr. Balveer Verma and General Secretary Dr. Piyush Kapila which met the Chief Minister at Oakover, Shimla and discussed several important issues concerning the medical education and availability of health services in the state.

CM Sukhu said that modern technology should be used in medical education to improve the quality of healthcare services being provided to the people of the State. The state government was determined to provide all possible support to make the state’s medical colleges and healthcare infrastructure more effective, he assured to the delegation.

The Modernization of Medical Colleges

According to Chief Minister Sukhu, the state government is going to implement needed steps for bringing the medical colleges in Himachal Pradesh up to date. He also ordered the Medical Department to provide quality medical equipment in all of the state’s medical colleges. It would empower the medical colleges to offer optimal training and services, therefore conferring the best healthcare results for the patients.

“Integrating cutting-edge technology into medical education and patient care is vital for the evolution of our healthcare system.” “We are dedicated to providing medical institutions with the latest equipment and resources so that they can serve the people of Himachal to the best of their ability,” said Chief Minister Sukhu.

The Chief Minister himself vowed to set up modern laboratories in the universities with the purpose of developing medical research and teaching in line with the modern needs. The government strives to deliver all requisite infrastructure so that medical students and specialists have top-notch education and training.

Growth in Health Facilities and Cancer Care

During the meeting, they discussed the efforts being taken by the state government to provide medical services to the people, which is one of the priorities of Chief Minister Thakur Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, who has also reviewed patient care facilities at the Cancer Hospital in Shimla. He directed the officials concerned to speed up the installation process of PET Scan machine at IGMC Shimla, which will go a long way in providing an effective cancer diagnosis and treatment for patients in the state.

“Delivering good health services near the homes of our people is an important focus for the state government. CM Sukhu said, We are making sure that these latest diagnostic and treatment technologies are provided to the needy.

Besides, the CM shared that a Centre of Excellence for treatment of cancer would soon be set up in Hamirpur and cancer hospital at Shimla would also be improved. Its PET Scan machine will be available at this center along with a Linac machine to provide more advanced care options for cancer patients. The Linac machine, which is often used in targeted treatments for cancer, is well-known for its precision and low side effects.

Medical College Cadre Merger Status Quo

On the demand for the merger of medical college cadre, CM Sukhu said that for now status quo would remain. He said for his side, they respect the delegation’s concern and they will continue to look into it considering the best interest of health workers and public.

For a Healthier Future to Everyone

With the meeting with medical delegation, CM Sukhu has shown the intent of improving healthcare infrastructure and services in the state of Himachal Pradesh. Modernizing medical colleges, strengthening facilities for cancer care, expanding health services — these are the goals of the state government, which aims to provide affordable health services to the people of the state through these initiatives.

With a long-term vision, he added that the healthcare system of the state would be strengthened without compromising the requirements of population expansion, including the latest technology and medical infrastructure. The government is striving to create a healthy, well-equipped Himachal Pradesh by investing in education, healthcare facilities, and modern equipment.
